Early on in my teaching days at MGS I was keen to teach the new A Level Media Studies, which had just been developed. I knew that I needed to be more confident in my theoretical knowledge, so I applied for an MA in Teaching Film and Television at the Institute of Education. Somehow I needed to balance the fact that I was a one parent family with three young children to support and therefore had to carry on teaching while studying at the same time. Tony waved his magic wand and fixed the timetable for me so that I could travel to London one afternoon a week; another evening's study a week meant that I could complete my MA over 2 years. This gave me the confidence to teach the subject at A Level, to write a number of textbooks and study guides and to become a Chief Examiner. I am forever grateful to Tony.
